Tourism boom in Thailand: The Thai government expects over 20 million international tourists in 2023 and is counting on a rapid recovery of the tourism sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thailand has been completely open to international tourism again for a few months. Quarantine, Thailand pass and Test & Go are a thing of the past and this is also clearly reflected in the numbers. In December 2022, for example, Thailand recorded around two million international tourists at the end of the year, significantly more travelers than in the previous months. This also makes the government optimistic. And so, in January, an optimistic target for 2023 was announced. Accordingly, at least 20 million foreign tourists are expected this year. This would mean a narrow doubling of 2023. At the same time, if by the end of 2023 Thailand would also have more than the 20 million tourists in the area, it would only be 50 percent at the level of 2019. Above all, this comparison makes it clear that Thai tourism is recovering significantly. But compared to the 40 million tourists in the record year 2019, there is definitely still room for improvement.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, for example, more tourists from China can travel to Thailand again. And after the international cruise sector is also gaining momentum again, significantly more calls by international cruise ships are expected again in 2023. Only recently, for example, the approximately 300-meter-long Mein Schiff 5 of the cruise line Tui Cruises<\/a> called at the popular holiday island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. And on board were over 3,000 passengers who went ashore for a day on Samui.<\/p>\n
